THE TERROIR

A HERITAGE TO BE PRESERVED, ADMIRED AND TASTED

The Pusterla Vineyard has almost a thousand years of history and represents a rare example of productive urban agriculture. It is probably the world’s only extensive vineyard dedicated to the cultivation of the Invernenga grape which thrives here due the interplay of the unique factors that make up its terroir. The hill on which it grows is the top of a limestone layered outcrop with a marly soil containing nodules of flint.

A constant stream of air from mount Guglielmo refreshes and cleans the atmosphere and its exposure guarantees the grapes an optimal amount of sunlight. The place is utterly unique.

Invernenga is a white grape variety cultivated using the “Pergola” training system also known with such names as Ua ‘mbrunesca, Invernesca, Brunesta and Bernestia, it is a native grape which is only grown in a few rows outside the Vigneto Pusterle in areas bordering the city.

The grape is juicy and yellow-green in colour, with a very thick skin, rich in polyphenols. It ripens from late October to early November. Its skin is particularly resilient allowing the fruit to be conserved and eaten in the winter months.

CENTURIES OLD VINES

The vineyard also conserves its original 80 to100 year old vines which continue to produce
increasingly special fruit, almost exclusively used for the 1037 White Pvsterla Reserve,
a wine not only reflecting the rich structure given by the grape but also its stunning
organoleptic properties.
